Crafting When We Can Challenges #34 - Sketch by Ang

This Challenge is the last of 2012 and I would like to thank everyone who participated in these enjoyable challenges and welcome everyone to join in next year.

The Challenge for this fortnight is a sketch by our DT Team Leader Ang

Our Sponsor this Challenge is

We were offered an image to use and I chose Christmas Squares.  I made this card for my  Sister-in-Law and her family.  The card and papers were from my stash and I used Copics and Promarkers to colour the images.  I have also layered the images up using Pinflair glue gel.

The picture is rubbish as the mirror paper reflected blue (it's in the corner and the middle of the sticky out bits).

Hop over to the Challenge blog and join us for the last challenge of the year.

and I have chosen to go PEARLS ~ GIRLY ~ CAS

The card and pearls are from my stash and I've slightly coloured the white paper with Dusty Concord DI and cut out with a Spellbinder label die.  I used flexmarkers to colour my image.

Crafting When We Can Challenges #32 - Fairytales

This challenge we are sponsored by

Krista is giving away 2 images, to the Winner, from her wonderful store.  Krista was kind enough to let us choose our image for this challenge and I chose Pearl because I wanted to do The Little Mermaid (yes I went with the Disney version but I do love her hair).

I coloured my image with Distressed Inks and used a spellbinder die to cut it out as well as some swirls.  The ribbon is from Craft Den and the papers are from a 360 page pad by K and Co.  I never thought I would use paper but as soon as I saw this image I knew it would work.  The pearls were made with a Viva Pearl Pen and it only took me 2 goes to get it right.  The first lot I made I put my hand in, as usual but the second lot I managed to let dry without incident.  I also put some glaze drops in her hair.

CHALLENGES

Crafting When We Can Challenges 31 - Ribbons & Skulls

The Challenge for this fortnight is
Ribbons & Skulls

Our wonderful Sponsor is the fabulous

Megan is offering the Winner 3 images of their choice.

We also have a new DT member to introduce to you, so I would like to welcome Susan to our DT family.  To visit any of our wonderful DT you can either go to the page section at the top of my blog and click on Crafting When We Can Design Team and hop to any of the members pages or even better hop over to the challenge join in and leave them some love.

The image I chose from Dilly Beans is 415 - Pinkys skull bow and I really enjoyed colouring this and let go with several colours of brown on the hair.  I find this a hard thing to do as I always think it looks messy but this image just seemed to lend itself to the technique.  The papers and card are all from my stash as is the ribbon and gems.  I used Promarkers for the image and Uni Paint marker for the skulls and image background.

Crafting When We Can Challenges 30 - Choose a countries flag

As usual we had loads of fab entries for Challenge 29 and there seems to be lots of Winter Weddings in the offing going on the number of entries we had.

This fortnight the Challenge is choose a countries flag and use the colours from it for you colour scheme.  It can be a card, scrap page, alter art as long as it follows the theme and rules we don't mind.

Our wonderful sponsor for this Challenge is

and they are offering the Winner 4 images of their choice.

We were all given a choice of image from the store and I chose China Honey, once again it's for my daughter as she is in a production of Aladdin, which is set in China.  All the paper, flowers etc are from my stash, the die is a Nellie Snellen die and the image was coloured with Promarkers and Copics.  I used a gold Sakura pen to colour the flowers and Honey's top.

I've used shiny papers for my card and it takes a rubbish photo.  When I've time I might try taking another in daylight.

To show us your creations just hop over to the Challenge and leave your entry with the froggy and we'll be over to leave you some love.

Off to the seaside now so hope it doesn't rain.  Hats, scarves and gloves at the ready as it's freezing outside and I can only imagine it will be even colder at the coast.

The Challenge this fortnight is

Wedding Celebrations

and our wonderful Sponsor is

As we didn't have an image to use this Challenge I have chosen a scrapbook/calendar page I made for my MIL and her brother and sisters for Christmas last year.  The pictures are of her Mother and Father and they were married in April 1924.  I put pictures of various family on 12 pages using CraftArtist and made a little calendar down the side of each page.  I then bound it using a bind it all.

I have taken the names and date from the top right corner.
To join in with our Challenge this fortnight all you have to do is hop over and leave your work with the blue froggy.

To join in this challenge just hop over here and leave your wonderful creations with the little Blue Froggy.  I'm also sure the DT would love it if you left a little love for them too.  Everyone likes a little love.  BIG HUGS :-) xx

Crafting When We Can Challenges 26 - Recipe

The challenge over at Crafting When We Can Challenges is a recipe.  You will need

1 x large image
2 x sentiments (different or the same)
3 x colours (excluding skin/hair colour)

and the wonderful sponsor is
and the winner will get these amazing
Keep  Calm and Carry On ribbons

My card is a landscape DL and the paper, image and sentiments are from the MCS Walking in Winter Wonderland CD.  I have printed each piece out and layered them up again.  I printed Snow on the ribbon along the bottom and wrapped a dotty ribbon around the middle border under the image.  No colouring this time around just plenty of double sided tape and foam pads.  The images were printed onto semi-glossy paper and there are stickles around the borders and on the tree.  They don't show up at all on the scan but believe me they do in real life.  My 3 colours are red, white and blue (with a tiny bit of green because I couldn't get rid of it on her arms).

Crafting When We Can Challenges 25 - Rainbows

I'm late for this Challenge as I came back from holiday and completely forgot about the challenge on Sunday.  As I'm not a very organised person I didn't do my card before I went away so I had to do it yesterday and wouldn't you know it, I couldn't find the glue, the printer was playing up, the light disappeared so no good for taking photos, you get the picture.  But eventually my idea came to fruition and I'm really pleased with it.

The sponsor for Challenge 25 is

For my card I made the rainbow using CA then cut it out I attached another piece of card to the back and cut it into the same shape.  I then printed out an image from CJ Holifield who used to run Cowgirl Up Designs.  This is one of my favourite images and I can't place why but I just love it.  I used CA to decoupage it and coloured it in using Promarkers and Copics.

Hop on over to the Challenge blog and leave your Rainbow creations with the blue froggy.

Crafting When We Can Challenges #24 - CASE it

Didn't know what CASE was until I read the post on the Challenge blog.  Apparently you take something you like from a card and make your own.  If you hop over to CWWCC you can see the proper definition.

Our wonderful sponsor for this challenge is
They are offering the winner 3 images of their choice from The Stamping Boutique.

We were given given great images to use and I decided to make a side step card using Picket Fence.  First I printed the image and a sentiment onto the base card, then added the 2 side images which I cut from the main image.  It was then coloured with flexmarkers and organza ribbon (also coloured with flexmarkers) wrapped around the bottom.  The colours don't really show in the picture as I used a pearlised paper and then couldn't get a photo without it bleaching out.

Now all you have to do is hop over to the Challenge and show us you take on one of the DTs card.

The Winner will get to choose 3 images of their choice from the store.

My card was made from 12 x 12 card, from Craft Den, in various colours of blue. The dark blue was embossed using a sizzix texturz plate.  I coloured the image in Copics and Promarkers.  The edge of the border was cut using a Nellie Snellen edge die.  The heart brads are from my stash as are the crystal letters and stones

Crafting When We Can Challenges #22 - 1 image, 2 ribbons, 3 buttons

Everyone's feeling better now, and things are back to normal so here is my card for Challenge 22 over at Crafting When We Can Challenges.  Our wonderful sponsor this challenge is

and were were given our choice of image.  The image I chose was Birthday Girl by Max, I love the cute dungarees she is wearing and the careful way she is carrying her precious cupcake.

The papers are from a 360 page paper pack by K & Co. (love all the papers in this stack), the ribbons are from Craft Den the buttons are from my stash. The image is coloured with Promarker and Copics.  Edges of the Tim Holtz mat were distressed with DI, bundled sage, it doesn't look as scruffy IRL.

I made this card while looking out at my wet, overgrown garden from the attic (my bedroom).  I haven't got my desk up there yet (it's still in the box in the garage) but I do have a shelf wide enough to work on and after moving all my OH's stuff I managed to clear a space for my craft mat so slowly but surely I'm getting there.  This year will be my year and I'm determined to get some space back from the OH and the kids.

Hop on over to the Challenge blog and leave your project with the blue froggy.

Crafting When We Can Challeges #21 - Summer Fun

This Challenge the theme is Summer Fun so we want to see someone or something having fun in the sun.

We were given an image from our generous Sponsors
The Winner will receive 3 images of their choice

and our 2nd Sponsor is

Crafty Ribbons
The Winner will receive a ribbon bag.

I chose to make a scrapbook page using 2 photos of my daughter.  I really like these pictures and enjoyed making this page.  The only problem was when I looked through my scrapbook I found I had already made a page using the exact same photos.

The blue base is a bazzill basic bought from Craft Den.  The flowery paper is from a K & Co 300 paper pack bought from a show last year with an edge cut using a MS punch around the page set.  I cut the last edge at an angle and the pattern didn't quite match but still hey hoo I've more things to worry about at the moment and it doesn't effect the lovely memory these pictures bring back to mind.  The flowers were cut out of the blue bazzil and some scraps with a Woodware punch I then coloured the scrap with a green Copic.  The gems were from Poundland and really lift the look of the flowers.  My beautiful flower girl is from MilkCoffee and she is called Lisbeth loves Sunflower.  I printed her out in 2 different sizes and coloured her with Promarkers and Copics, I coloured her Sunflower blue to match my photos.  I have left a space for my journalling when I get around to it but put a digital label on the photo so I can remember when it was.

If you've got a creation that follows the theme then hop over to the Challenge and leave it with the blue froggy, if you've followed the rules you'll be in with a chance of winning the great prizes on offer.

Crafting When We Can Challenges 20 - Mint Choc Chip (mint green & brown)

This Challenge we are doing a colour combo the only problem is everyone has a different idea of what mint is, we all know it's green but what green.  Ice-cream tends to be a pale green but the mint plant in my garden if quite a dark green and the mint jelly from the jar is very dark green.  So I chose a green I thought was a minty colour and used that.

Our sponsor for this Challenge is Kenny K Downloads and we were kindly given a choice of the images from the store.  My daughter chose Brianna Blaster.  As Kenny's images are so detailed I decided to print the image A5ish and colour it in and then scan the image into my computer and size it up and print out 4 copies.  I used all the images to layer up my image.  The mats are are cut from Tim Holtz dies and the tag was cut from a piece of 12 x12 double sided paper but I don't know the name (the tag is the same paper of the mat but using the other side).  The black swirls are pieces of borders from Poundland and the ribbon is from Craft Den coloured with an Anna Griffin Chocolate ink.

Hop over to the Challenge and join in with your wonderful creations.

Crafting When We Can Challenges #19 - Fashion and Pearls

Once again life caught up with me along with the nasty no get up and go bug so I didn't get my second card done for the last challenge.  I still have the idea in my head so it may appear one day.

Now onto Challenge 19, Fashion and Pearls.  Our fab Sponsor for this Challenge is

We were given some wonderful images to use and I chose this one because I could see in my mind something I would like to try.  The backing paper is K & Company Best of 12x12 360 designer Papers.  I really like all these papers and they pop up on my cards alot.  The white circle has been embossed with a Sizzix Texturz plate.  I've had these plates for about 3 years and never used them, I always forget but I cut the circle by hand and thought embossing would hid the rubbish edges.  The image was coloured with Promarkers and the pearls were made with a Viva pearl pen (and I didn't put my fingers in it before it set, yeah me!).  Flowers are old Woodware ones and the ribbon was from Craft Den.  I used a MS border punch to make the lace on the edge of my card and highlighted it with a little Promarker, the senitment is from Craftwork Cards.

Hop over now to the Challenge blog and show us your Fashion and Pearls creations.  While your there leave us some love.

Crafting When We Can Challenges #18 - Steampunk

Hi all, this fortnight over at Crafting When We Can Challenges we have a theme of STEAMPUNK and our awesome sponsor is Sassy Studio Designs.

We were given a couple of images to use so I have decided to use one now and one later in the week when I can get to my Craftrobo to cut out a card.

The image for the card below is called Steampunk Josephine (Nov 11, 2012).  I designed the card on CraftArtist using background images and embellishments from Dezinaworld adding drop shadows for dimension and then colouring in Josephine with Copics and Promarkers.

Short and hopefully sweet post today as I'm off to battle with some more clothes alterations for High Green Musical Theatre Group's up and coming musical review.

Hop over to CWWCC and show us your interpretation of Steampunk.  I can't wait to see it.

Crafting When We Can Challenges #17 - Sketch + DT call

I can't believe it's time for another challenge over at CWWCC.  The projects people are putting are fabulous and always give me loads of inspiration.

The Challenge this fortnight is a sketch by Ang our team leader.

Our generous Sponsor is

We were able to choose our own stamps so I chose Lil Fashionette - 60's Ivy.  My Daughter is in a musical theatre group and at the end of May they are doing a musical review and one of the sections is 'The Beatles' and they will be wearing black and white dresses hence the 'break a leg' sentiment.  As usual I made the card up on Craftartist using  papers from Creative Cottage (no longer around) I have made these and the embellishments into a digikit.  The ribbons and embellishements I made using the shapes button on CA.  I then made up my card onto a 6" x 6" page so I knew they fit.  The card was then split into it's components and printed out so I could then layer them back together onto a 6 x 6 base card.  The image was coloured in with a black and yellow promarker and white inkssential pen then popped up on 3d foam as was the sentiment.

Now all you have to do is hop over to the CWWCC and enter your wonderful creations.  We are also looking for some new DT members so if you're interested put DT after your name.

CWWCC 16 card - The Original

Here is the card I was going to post originally as my DT card for the Crafting When We Can Challenge ~ Just the two of us.  I made this card using CraftArtist.  I put both images together  on the background paper, I digitally cut out the cupcake to make the row of cupcakes down the side then I printed it out so I could colour the images in with my Copics and Promarkers.  The two stopper cupcakes are just bigger ones of the border but this time I have cut them out and mounted them on 3d foam then layered them on top of a piece of ribbon.

The beautiful images are by Angelique of Sliekje digi Stamps,  Angelique is a very talented and generous artist who shares her 'scribbles' with the crafting world for free.  If you hop over she has just posed her 150th image and I have every image she has posted.  These are my go to images  if I need to make a card quickly because I know I will find an image that perfectly fits the bill.

a closer look at the top, doesn't the drop shadow give it real depth.
I made up the sentiments on this card.  I really like the one on the inside, the gems on the mat are real and layered on 3d foam as are the cupcake stoppers.

Hope you've enjoyed my card and it would be wonderful if you could hop over and show us your wonderful work on the Challenge blog

Crafting When We Can Challenges #16 - Just the two of us

The challenge for the next two weeks over at CWWCC is Just the two of us.  You must use 2 images on your project.

Our Sponsor this challenge is the wonderful

They are offering a surprise to the winner

I have used a scrap page I made in the CraftArtist program.  It is of my son, last year, standing next to 'Sir Haydn' one of the engines on the Tal-y-Llyn Railway.  We had an hours drive to get there from where we were staying but we couldn't pass up the chance to go on the engines that inspired the Thomas the Tank Engine stories.  It was these stories which started my son on his love of reading.  We have books, comic and Ertl engines, plates etc by the bucket load, we even have a signed copy of a story written by Rev Awdry's son Christopher.

The papers are from Pascale's free paper challenge, the metal cogs are from Dezinaworld, June is now offering her collage sheets free, all you have to do is send her an e-mail stating which you want and she will send it to you.  There is also a button if you wish to make a donation.

As you have to have 2 images on your project and the card I was originally going to post will have to wait until I've checked something with the provided of the image this page will have to do.

Hop over to the Crafting When We Can Challenges blog and leave your wonderful creation with the blue froggy.

Crafting When We Can Challenges #15 - Things with Wings

Phew, thought someone had pinched the formatting for blogger luckily I realised I was in HTML view.  What a wally I am sometimes, my OH is always saying I'm hilarious as I do things like this quite alot.

Anyhoo, onto Challenge 15, this time it's 'Things with Wings' if it's got wings we want to see it.  Butterflies, fairies, unicorns if you follow the simple rules you have a chance of winning the wonderful prize we have on offer.

This challenge our sponsor is the wonderful

I made my card using Bazzill card and Papermania colour block card cut on my CraftRobo.  I ran out of the base card brown and had to substitute with another card but IRL it looks fine.  I have made a hexagon card shape to go with the 'On a Wing and a Prayer 003' image, kindly given to us by our sponsor, he's so cute.  I coloured him with Promarkers and used DI on  the card around the image to match with the yellow paper.  I typed up the sentiment and cut it out and popped it and the image layer up on 3d foam.

Sorry for the rubbish photos they were took on my phone at about 2am last night.  When OH gets back and I can find the camera I will take some better pictures.
The inside
I don't usually finish the inside but it seemed appropriate with this card.
