CWWCC #36 - mid way reminder

I really wanted to have a play with my CraftArtist 2 and this Fishy Bulb image from The Stamping Chef gave me the perfect opportunity.  I imported the image into the program and had a play with the cutout studio, punches and styles.  I have used several layers in the program to achieve this page and I printed it out and stuck it to some greyboard I then attached a big clip to the top.  I plan on using it as a place to put the letters etc I need to deal with.  I've pictured it nice and big in the hope you can see the effects on the light bulb.  A metal top, a smooth glass effect underneath the top and a glass effect with a ripple for the water.  I then had to make the fish into a punch so I could cut out the material I wanted and then put the image back over it.  I've still not quite got it right but I'm really please with the work.

Here are some close ups I hope you can see the effects.
not quite got the fish righ but I will be working on this
Hope you all have a great weekend and don't forget to hop over to the Challenge and leave us your Strawberries and Cream (red and white) projects.

Just a little something

I was commenting on Crafting Vicky's blog and the theme of the challenge she had made her DT card for was "warm thoughts" over at Digi Makeover Challenge.  A little pouch that I saw a tutorial for many years ago sprang to mind.  The tutorial is by Paul over at Crafty Blogocks.  The one I've made is a bit different but the principle is the same.

I used my CraftArtist program and the digikit Cocoa Latte to print out the card on both sides then I printed and cut out an embellie to put on the front, when I've more time to play I will have a go at printing it onto the back of the card.  I can get 2 pouches out of 1 A4 piece of card.  Now I've made this up I think next time I will make slots in the slope instead of 1 oval and insert 3 or 4 sachets of hot chocolate and maybe some tiny marshmallows.  When I find my hook and loop tape I will put a small piece on to hold the flap in place.
Don't have any sachets so used a folded up crisp packet
Sending Hugs to everyone and hoping you are either keeping safe and warm or safe and cool depending on where you are in the world.  In Sheffield we have snow, not good if you have to go out in it but the trees look fantastic.  :-) xx

Crafting When We Can Challenge 36 - Strawberries and Cream (red and white)

The Challenge for this fortnight is Strawberries and Cream or red and white.  We were given images to use by our lovely sponsor who is

The image I chose to use is Maggie. She reminds me of the showgirls you see in the saloons in the old Western films.  I can see her on the stage of Deadwood (Calamity Jane reference).

I have cut my card into a diamond shape, not as easy as it looks for me, getting the right dimensions took some doing.  The base card and mats are are from Rymans it's 200gsm, cream, coated card and the DP is another sheet from my K and Co 12 x 12 pad.  Circles of the paper and card were inked with fired brick DI and rolled into flowers and stuck on with my glue gun.  Boy does that glue get everywhere.  The image was coloured with Copic markers.  I will choose a sentiment later when I find them all so I can choose the right one.
Now you've seen my project hop over to the Challenge blog and leave your Strawberries and Cream projects with the blue froggy and the DT will be over to leave you some love.

Crafting When We Can Challenges 35 - Favourite Things

The first Challenge of 2013 by Crafting When We Can is

Favourite Things

and our Wonderful Sponsor is

We were given the opportunity to choose our own image and I chose Bella Bride.  I don't have many bride images and I thought this one could be used for other things as I think she's beautiful and I hope I've done her justice.

My Favourite Things

I love to use card to make my base layer instead of a bought card base and this time I've used some linen effect I forgot I had.  I love to use the papers out of my 360 page K and Co paper pad.  I used my now worn Fiskar paper cutter to cut my mats and layers, the ink has just about worn off the base so I have to turn it the other way to use the measurements at the top.  I used my favourite Spellbinder label die (I have other dies but always seem to turn to this one.  Alcohol pens, Promarker & Copics.  In fact I think this is one of my favourite cards and I don't say that about many.  The plain space at the top is where my sentiment will go when I can find one I like

Hop over to the Challenge blog and show us your projects using your

Crafting When We Can Challenges #34 - Sketch by Ang

This Challenge is the last of 2012 and I would like to thank everyone who participated in these enjoyable challenges and welcome everyone to join in next year.

The Challenge for this fortnight is a sketch by our DT Team Leader Ang

Our Sponsor this Challenge is

We were offered an image to use and I chose Christmas Squares.  I made this card for my  Sister-in-Law and her family.  The card and papers were from my stash and I used Copics and Promarkers to colour the images.  I have also layered the images up using Pinflair glue gel.

The picture is rubbish as the mirror paper reflected blue (it's in the corner and the middle of the sticky out bits).

Hop over to the Challenge blog and join us for the last challenge of the year.

Crafting When We Can Challenges #32 - Fairytales

This challenge we are sponsored by

Krista is giving away 2 images, to the Winner, from her wonderful store.  Krista was kind enough to let us choose our image for this challenge and I chose Pearl because I wanted to do The Little Mermaid (yes I went with the Disney version but I do love her hair).

I coloured my image with Distressed Inks and used a spellbinder die to cut it out as well as some swirls.  The ribbon is from Craft Den and the papers are from a 360 page pad by K and Co.  I never thought I would use paper but as soon as I saw this image I knew it would work.  The pearls were made with a Viva Pearl Pen and it only took me 2 goes to get it right.  The first lot I made I put my hand in, as usual but the second lot I managed to let dry without incident.  I also put some glaze drops in her hair.

CHALLENGES

Clear It Out - Ugly Sweater (use up old paper ~ I never thought I would be able to use this paper I've had it about 4 years)

Crafting When We Can Challenges 31 - Ribbons & Skulls

The Challenge for this fortnight is
Ribbons & Skulls

Our wonderful Sponsor is the fabulous

Megan is offering the Winner 3 images of their choice.

We also have a new DT member to introduce to you, so I would like to welcome Susan to our DT family.  To visit any of our wonderful DT you can either go to the page section at the top of my blog and click on Crafting When We Can Design Team and hop to any of the members pages or even better hop over to the challenge join in and leave them some love.

The image I chose from Dilly Beans is 415 - Pinkys skull bow and I really enjoyed colouring this and let go with several colours of brown on the hair.  I find this a hard thing to do as I always think it looks messy but this image just seemed to lend itself to the technique.  The papers and card are all from my stash as is the ribbon and gems.  I used Promarkers for the image and Uni Paint marker for the skulls and image background.

Simply Create Too #26 - use your stash
(the paper/card and ribbon are at least 3 years old)

Crafting When We Can Challenges 30 - Choose a countries flag

As usual we had loads of fab entries for Challenge 29 and there seems to be lots of Winter Weddings in the offing going on the number of entries we had.

This fortnight the Challenge is choose a countries flag and use the colours from it for you colour scheme.  It can be a card, scrap page, alter art as long as it follows the theme and rules we don't mind.

Our wonderful sponsor for this Challenge is

and they are offering the Winner 4 images of their choice.

We were all given a choice of image from the store and I chose China Honey, once again it's for my daughter as she is in a production of Aladdin, which is set in China.  All the paper, flowers etc are from my stash, the die is a Nellie Snellen die and the image was coloured with Promarkers and Copics.  I used a gold Sakura pen to colour the flowers and Honey's top.

I've used shiny papers for my card and it takes a rubbish photo.  When I've time I might try taking another in daylight.

To show us your creations just hop over to the Challenge and leave your entry with the froggy and we'll be over to leave you some love.

Off to the seaside now so hope it doesn't rain.  Hats, scarves and gloves at the ready as it's freezing outside and I can only imagine it will be even colder at the coast.
