Crafting When We Can Challenges #18 - Steampunk

Hi all, this fortnight over at Crafting When We Can Challenges we have a theme of STEAMPUNK and our awesome sponsor is Sassy Studio Designs.

We were given a couple of images to use so I have decided to use one now and one later in the week when I can get to my Craftrobo to cut out a card.

The image for the card below is called Steampunk Josephine (Nov 11, 2012).  I designed the card on CraftArtist using background images and embellishments from Dezinaworld adding drop shadows for dimension and then colouring in Josephine with Copics and Promarkers.

Short and hopefully sweet post today as I'm off to battle with some more clothes alterations for High Green Musical Theatre Group's up and coming musical review.

Hop over to CWWCC and show us your interpretation of Steampunk.  I can't wait to see it.

Crafting When We Can Challenges #17 - Sketch + DT call

I can't believe it's time for another challenge over at CWWCC.  The projects people are putting are fabulous and always give me loads of inspiration.

The Challenge this fortnight is a sketch by Ang our team leader.

Our generous Sponsor is

We were able to choose our own stamps so I chose Lil Fashionette - 60's Ivy.  My Daughter is in a musical theatre group and at the end of May they are doing a musical review and one of the sections is 'The Beatles' and they will be wearing black and white dresses hence the 'break a leg' sentiment.  As usual I made the card up on Craftartist using  papers from Creative Cottage (no longer around) I have made these and the embellishments into a digikit.  The ribbons and embellishements I made using the shapes button on CA.  I then made up my card onto a 6" x 6" page so I knew they fit.  The card was then split into it's components and printed out so I could then layer them back together onto a 6 x 6 base card.  The image was coloured in with a black and yellow promarker and white inkssential pen then popped up on 3d foam as was the sentiment.

Now all you have to do is hop over to the CWWCC and enter your wonderful creations.  We are also looking for some new DT members so if you're interested put DT after your name.

CWWCC 16 card - The Original

Here is the card I was going to post originally as my DT card for the Crafting When We Can Challenge ~ Just the two of us.  I made this card using CraftArtist.  I put both images together  on the background paper, I digitally cut out the cupcake to make the row of cupcakes down the side then I printed it out so I could colour the images in with my Copics and Promarkers.  The two stopper cupcakes are just bigger ones of the border but this time I have cut them out and mounted them on 3d foam then layered them on top of a piece of ribbon.

The beautiful images are by Angelique of Sliekje digi Stamps,  Angelique is a very talented and generous artist who shares her 'scribbles' with the crafting world for free.  If you hop over she has just posed her 150th image and I have every image she has posted.  These are my go to images  if I need to make a card quickly because I know I will find an image that perfectly fits the bill.

a closer look at the top, doesn't the drop shadow give it real depth.
I made up the sentiments on this card.  I really like the one on the inside, the gems on the mat are real and layered on 3d foam as are the cupcake stoppers.

Hope you've enjoyed my card and it would be wonderful if you could hop over and show us your wonderful work on the Challenge blog

Crafting When We Can Challenges #16 - Just the two of us

The challenge for the next two weeks over at CWWCC is Just the two of us.  You must use 2 images on your project.

Our Sponsor this challenge is the wonderful

They are offering a surprise to the winner

I have used a scrap page I made in the CraftArtist program.  It is of my son, last year, standing next to 'Sir Haydn' one of the engines on the Tal-y-Llyn Railway.  We had an hours drive to get there from where we were staying but we couldn't pass up the chance to go on the engines that inspired the Thomas the Tank Engine stories.  It was these stories which started my son on his love of reading.  We have books, comic and Ertl engines, plates etc by the bucket load, we even have a signed copy of a story written by Rev Awdry's son Christopher.

The papers are from Pascale's free paper challenge, the metal cogs are from Dezinaworld, June is now offering her collage sheets free, all you have to do is send her an e-mail stating which you want and she will send it to you.  There is also a button if you wish to make a donation.

As you have to have 2 images on your project and the card I was originally going to post will have to wait until I've checked something with the provided of the image this page will have to do.

Hop over to the Crafting When We Can Challenges blog and leave your wonderful creation with the blue froggy.

Crafting When We Can Challenges #15 - Things with Wings

Phew, thought someone had pinched the formatting for blogger luckily I realised I was in HTML view.  What a wally I am sometimes, my OH is always saying I'm hilarious as I do things like this quite alot.

Anyhoo, onto Challenge 15, this time it's 'Things with Wings' if it's got wings we want to see it.  Butterflies, fairies, unicorns if you follow the simple rules you have a chance of winning the wonderful prize we have on offer.

This challenge our sponsor is the wonderful

I made my card using Bazzill card and Papermania colour block card cut on my CraftRobo.  I ran out of the base card brown and had to substitute with another card but IRL it looks fine.  I have made a hexagon card shape to go with the 'On a Wing and a Prayer 003' image, kindly given to us by our sponsor, he's so cute.  I coloured him with Promarkers and used DI on  the card around the image to match with the yellow paper.  I typed up the sentiment and cut it out and popped it and the image layer up on 3d foam.

Sorry for the rubbish photos they were took on my phone at about 2am last night.  When OH gets back and I can find the camera I will take some better pictures.
The inside
I don't usually finish the inside but it seemed appropriate with this card.

Crafting When We Can Challenge #14 ~ One for the Boys

Once again we had a superb turnout for the challenge and once again the work was awesome, we have very talented entrants.

For Challenge 14 our sponsor is the wonderful

I don't know what the prize is but I'm sure it will be awesome.

The card I have made is using an old Some Odd Girl image of hang 10 Cody, this image doesn't seem to be in the shop but there are loads of other fab images to choose from.

I made my card using Papermania 12 x 12 coloured card, cut in half to make a 6 x 6 base, the DPs are from DCWV Stack 6.  I coloured my image with Copics and Promarkers and highlighted the waves with a white inkssential pen and die cut with a Spellbinder label. I've shaded with DI and made the faux buttons with a round punch and the swirly border is a MS punch.  The faux stitching was made with a black fine liner pen.

Tiger, Tiger, burning bright...

I am entering this scrapbook page into the Paper Pretties challenge - Stripes.  I found this site while I was DT commenting and when I saw the theme I knew I had the perfect picture, it just took me an hour to find it on the computer.  I don't know which Tiger this is but the photo was taken at Banham Zoo ~ Norfolk in 2007, it's well worth a visit if you are in the area.  We went when we were camping at Kelling Heath.

As usual I used my Craft Artist program and the papers were from Creative Cottage, the frame is from the Carnival digikit from Daisy Trail.

Crafting When We Can Challenges #13 - Animals

This week over at Crafting When We Can Challenges the theme is Animals, any type of animal and any type of project.

Our wonderful Sponsor is
Hop over and see the wonderful images Tracey has on offer.

Below is my first try at a journal page, my Bestie, who is a big journal fan has been trying to explain to me the concept behind journalling.  I still don't really understand it or see the point of it, I don't like getting messy and putting layers of things, paint/paper over layers of other paint/paper just doesn't do it for me but having talked about it I thought I would give it a go. So here is my first journal page.  My daughter did a random number and the image below is the one that was picked, as soon as I saw it I knew the sort of thing I wanted to do with it.

I used various shades of DI to colour the page, I wanted to make it woody (I may go back and try and make the background look more bark like at a later date).  I then coloured 2 images so I could 3D some of the pieces.  I used Copics, Promarkers and DI as paint.  I thank used a gold marker, which didn't really show up so I highlighted the word Family with black and white markers and then wrote  & Friends and highlighted these too.

Crafting When We Can Challenges #12 - Big Birthdays

Well, Challenge #12 over at Crafting When We Can Challenges is quite appropriate for me as next month it is my daughters 'Big Birthday' she will be reaching the age of 13.  She is growing into an amazing young lady, confident and thoughtful (usually) and she grows more beautiful everyday.

Anyhoo, our sponsor this challenge is the glorious

and here is my offering
This is a shaped card cut on my CraftRobo.  I designed the whole thing except for the Happy Birthday.  I designed the fret work and then used the 'accord heavy' text to make the number 13 and welded it together and cropped the fretwork into it.  It was a process I thoroughly enjoyed doing especially as it is for my darling daughter.  Who will be 13 in March.  The photo isn't fantastic as I used my scanner to capture it and as there is quite a bit of dimension it has come out shadowy.  Silver holographic card from Home Bargains is the base card and the backing is a pink butterfly vellum from stash. I have used little gems from Poundland in some of the  openings and 2 ribbon bows (ribbon from Craft Den).

Now all you have to do is hop over to the Challenge blog and enter your 'Big Birthday' projects.

CHALLENGES
I will be adding these later as it's 2:30am and I'm going to bed now.

Crafting When We Can Challenges #11 - Valentine/Love

Once again all the entries were wonderful and I'm sure the DT member who has to choose the winner and top 3 will have a very difficult time.

This week we have been sponsored by the lovely Heather at

The Winner will receive
3 images of their choice
from Fresh Brewed Designs

Heather gave us some images to use for this challenge but I really loved the previous image Heather gave us I've made 2 cards.

The card below was coloured with my Flex Markers and the mat was cut on my CraftRobo.  It was a design I made my self and I'm really pleased with it.  The plaque is a  Nellie die and the stamps I've had for years from QVC (a big wooden box of about 30 wood mounted stamps)

On this next card the lips are cut from my CraftRobo, so is the Dipped Strawberry. the design from FBD.  I took the image into the Robo software and made it into a cutting design (I hope this is OK with Heather).  I used some Anita's 3D clear gloss on the brown bit to make it look like shiny chocolate (but you can't see that on the picture) and I hand wrote the Mmmmmmm... (as if you couldn't tell). I also designed the fingers to hold the strawberry, as you can tell art really isn't my forte and the creases and fingernail could do with improving but for 11:30pm I don't think it looks bad.  I used Promarkers and Copics along with Tattered Rose DI.

Now all you have to do is hop over to the Challenge blog and enter your projects.

Due to unforseen circumstances the DT cards will be put on to the challenge page as and when they are received so there may only be a few when you visit.
