Crafting When We Can Challenges 133 - BINGO

I didn't realise I hadn't posted, up to the rafters with costumes for the Panto in 2 weeks.  Lots of hand sewing to do and tiaras to make.  It always comes good in the end and we have a really good show which kicks off the start of Christmas for me.  Anyhoo better get on with the post.

Once again we have as our sponsor over at CWWCC, the talented Caitlyn, from

I really enjoy using Caitlyn's image as I find they are wonderful for practising my colouring.  The features are so clear and the hair is great for practising highlights.  We were generously given images to work with and I chose Skye.  I'm really please with the colouring of this image and I really like her hair.  I also noticed I seem drawn to blond.  Must try a brunette next time, or green like my daughter.

The prize is 3 images from the store

Theme: BINGO

spots and stripes/animal/pearl
spots are the embossing on the orange card and I took liberties with the stripes

The pearls are faux using a viva pearl pen, the paper is DCWV, orange card Tim Holtz, embossing folder swiss dots can'r remember who's, frame Tonic, sketch by Sandra a couple of challenges ago.  Coloured as usual with my Spectrum Noir pens and mats cut on my scanncut.

Crafting When We Can Challenges 132 - Circles

I forgot to post my card for this challenge so better late than never.  You still have until Saturday afternoon to enter your circle inspired projects.  It can contain 1 or more circles as long as we can see a circle.

Our wonderful sponsor for this challenge is the talented Caitlyn Crosfield of

Caitlyn very generously gave us images to use and I chose Tracy.  I really enjoyed working with this image I think I would like to use it to practice my colouring.  I love her hair.  I cut a circle stencil on the scan'n'cut and use distressed inks to colour through. I then made a mat with circles surrounding it and welded it together.  The ribbon threaded through was from some chocolates last Christmas and the stamped sentiment is one of my first stamps.  This was stamped onto one of the circles cut from the stencil.  The image was coloured with Spectrum Noir pens.

Hop over the the Challenge and show us your project including a circle or circles.

We were kindly given images to use and I chose Red. I coloured her with Spectrum Noir pens and used my Scan n cut to cut my mats. The patterned paper was from the digikit 'snow globes'. The silver card was from B & M and the white base card is from Poundland.

Crafting When We Can Challenges 129 - Christmas Comes Early

Over at CWWCC we have the very talented Heather Valentin from

We were very kindly given an image to work with and I chose Peace on Earth.  I coloured her with my Spectrum Noir pencils and highlighted pieces with a Spectrum Noir sparkle pen.  Unfortunately you can't really see the sparkle on the picture but it's there.  I used blue glitter card from Create and Craft and the stars and sentiment were cut on my scan'n'cut using a sticky back sparkle vinyl from Home Bargains.  This stuff is amazing to cut, I stuck it to card and then cut out the stars and layered them on to my card.  The wide ribbon across the card is from The Range.  She reminded me of a 70's girl so I chose a 70's font for the word Peace and the oval mats are from Tonic mixed layering dies.
Hop over to CWWCC and show us your Christmas projects, I know a lot of you have already started so enter our challenge and you could be in with a chance to win the wonderful prize.

Crafting When We Can Challenges 128 - Use your favourite medium ((pens, pencils, paint etc)

Over at Crafting When We Can Challenges we have the lovely Sarah from

For my project I chose Spring Rain I wanted to use bright colours to counteract the grey skies and storms we've had this week.  My favourite medium is my Spectrum Noir pens, I also used my fiskar cutter, which I use everytime I craft and my Tonic dies and punches.  All the paper and card are from my stash and because I hate to waste papers I've gutted the card you can't see and now have loads of gold and red name dies (First Edition dies from Hobbycraft Female and Male titles Mum, Dad, Sister etc)  The flowers are various punches and the leaves were cut on the scan'n'cut.
Looks better in person.  Photo makes it look washed out and flat

Hop over to CWWCC and leave us your projects using your favourite medium.

I then added an offset to mat the cupcakes using Create and Craft glitter card. The background papers are from a CWVC paper pad. The image and cupcakes were coloured using Spectrum noir pens. The image is It's my birthday. The sentiment is one from the scan'n'cut on board library.

Crafting When We Can Challenges 126 - Dies and Punches

Firstly we have some new DT members to welcome so hop over to CWWCC and leave them some love when you link up your project.

Our wonderful Sponsor for this challenge is Nikki from

We were able to choose an image pack and I chose 5 Swinging Monkeys.  It was a pleasure working with these images and I've had another idea that I want to try.

I used the Crafter's Companion Big Score to create my card and coloured the images in with Spectrum Noir pens.  The papers are from my stash and the die cuts and punches are from Tonic.  I had add 2 pictures so you can see them images and the die cut/punched detail.

Now it's your turn to show us your creation using dies and punches.  Hop over and leave your projects with the linky at the bottom of the post.

You still have until Saturday afternoon to enter our "Things with Wings" challenge over at CWWCC.

Our sponsor is the talented Sami from
Feel Free to Grab My Badge for Your Blog!

We were generously given an image to use and I chose Bubble Fairy.  The image was coloured with Spectrum Noir pens and CC sparkle pen for the highlights.  Card stock from my stash and the crystals are from a nail art kit.  The circle was cut using a Tonic Celtic layering die and the Celtic Dream collection.  The sentiment is from the Tonic Live the Life die set.  I've tried to shadow the words and corners but I'm never really happy about how shadowing turns out when I do it.  I think it's because I end up using the lighter colour at the back but I wanted a contrast to the colour of the mat and bubble.  Hey ho I suppose we all pull our creations to bits.

So far behind - catch up No.1 - Oddball Art Co

Due to Family, no mojo and life in general I've got so far behind with my DT work it isn't funny.  To try and make up for this I'm trying to use all the images I've generously been given by our Sponsors on Crafting When We Can Challenges.  For this post I am using an image from

This image is called Big Eye Beetleguise Tribute.  I used a house image from a digikit called Spooktacular and a background from Fantasy Fairies.  I built the scene onto an A4 sheet and printed it out flat.  I then coloured the image with Spectrum Noir pens and cut around the top of the image and folded the page in half.  I printed a sentiment onto card and cut it out and stuck it onto the card.  It says 'Happy Birthday Ghoulfriend'.

Hop over to our current challenge which is 'Things with Wings'

Crafting When We Can Challenges #122 - Any occasion

It's been a long time since I played with paper, I've been sat in front of a sewing machine for weeks making 3 dress for saloon girls in HGMTG production of Calamity Jane.  Here is a badly cut out picture of the dress.  As the girls playing the chorus were under 18 I'm not allowed to show them on the internet and as usual I forgot to take any pictures.  The dress was cobbled together from a top pattern and a round skirt, all 12 feet of it, the same for an underskirt and net skirt and frills sewn to the inside so when the girls picked the front up to do their dance the frills moved.  Don't worry to preserve modesty of the girls they wore big white bloomers under the dress.  Needless to say I really needed my Pilates on Wednesday to help with a aching back and shoulders.
Anyhoo on to the reason for my post.  The challenge over at CWWCC is Any occasion, I made a birthday card with an image, Adriana's Owl kindly provided by the wonderful sponsor Karleigh Sue Digi Store.  I really enjoyed making this card as it was my first for about 2 months.  I used my Brother Scan 'n' Cut and scraps of card from my stash.  The image was coloured with Promarkers and Copic pens.  The sparkles in the flowers are Tonic Nuvo glitter drops and in the spots on the head scarf I used Crafters Companion glitter pens.

Crafting When We Can Challenges 117 - Birthday

Over on CWWCC we have a wonderful new sponsor Nikki Burnette

Hello! My name is Nikki Burnette and I am a fantasy artist. I paint all sorts of fantastical creatures in watercolor. Fantasy art is where my heart lies. I love being able to escape the reality of our world for even just a few hours and enter a new fantasy realm where witches play tricks on Halloween Night, fairies fly around the sweet smelling rosebuds, and mermaids swim gracefully through the water with their dolphin friends. I sell my original paintings as well as a wide range of different products that I create myself in my studio.

http://aurella-art.blogspot.co.uk/

Prize: 3 images from the store

Theme: Birthday
It could be a Birthday card, scrapbook page of a Birthday, Birthday book etc

I used the very pretty Cadence on my card. She was a pleasure to colour in. I fussy cut her with scissors as I couldn't get my scan n cut to recognise the outline and I couldn't be bothered to get out the acetate and redraw the outline. I used my Spectum Noir pencils and blending solution. I haven't used them for a while, I put them somewhere safe and couldn't find them. I found them when I was looking for something else I put in a safe place and still haven't found. I choose really safe places (or I have a really bad memory). I used my scan n cut to cut the mats and create the faux stitching and a sizzix texturz plate to emboss the mats.

You still have until Saturday 30th to enter our challenge so hop over and see the wonderful inspiration from our talented DT.

Crafting When We Can Challenges 116 - Based on a song

I'm so late with this post but at least it's here now.  You still have a few days to enter our "Based on a Song" challenge over at the CWWCC blog.   We have a new Sponsor for this challenge.

Prize: choice of
1. choose any 2 digi's (value $5)
2. choose current color club (value $10)

I have used some old papermania card from my stash and my new Scan n Cut to cut the shapes.  I was really please with how this card went but then I've had another look and decided that it needs more texture/interest so hopefully I will have another go and use some of the numerous embossing folders I have.  We were generously given an image to use and I chose Miss Cherry.  The song that was going around in my head is "She wears short shorts"

I think I'm going to put my image as if she is leaning on a wall to ground her.  The colours are all in the image but as usual rubbish photo doesn't really show this.  I think I might also put short shorts on the big banner.  Why didn't these ideas come when I was constructing this card?

Crafting When We Can Challenges 115 - sketch by Sandra - mid way reminder

I will catch up I promise but once again I am posting mid way through the challenge.

Our challenge over on CWWCC is number 115 and our wonderful sponsor is Heather from

The theme is a wonderful sketch by Sandra

Prize: 3 images from Lacy sunshine

I chose Marguerite Daisy Flower Pot Pretties.  Last year we went to Northumbria for our holiday and we stayed in a little village called Belford.  Our Cottage Butterfly House had a small back garden but it was full of beautiful flora and fauna.  This was our view every morning while having breakfast.  It's just a pity you can't hear the birds singing and see them flitting through the bushes.

I used various spring coloured card from the stash and a backing paper I made on CraftArtist using a daisy from one of the digikits I have (can't remember the name).  Woodware punches were used to cut the daisies and I used a gold Viva pearl pen for the centres.  I coloured in the image with Spectrum Noir pens and cut our the red circle with my Tonic Celtic layering die.  I will be adding a header and journalling when I get a new blade for my Craftrobo.  The old ones just won't give me a good cut.

Hop over to the CWWCC and show us your projects using Sandra's fab sketch.

Crafting When We Can Challenges #114 - Use washi tape - mid way reminder

Just a quick mid challenge reminder for Challenge 114, use washi tape, over at CWWCC.

We have a new sponsor for this challenge, Sarah from

Stampz by Star

We were generously given an image to use for this challenge and I chose Spring Rain. It was a pleasure to colour this image and I tried a few new things too. I've never used washi tape before so I sent out my OH and he came back with 12 rolls of the stuff so I will probably be using it more often now, £2 for 3 rolls from The Works, I didn't think that was a bad price. I revisited a stepper card because I haven't made one for quite a while. It was an easy make using my Hougie board and don't know why I don't make them more. The oval mounts are from my new Tonic mixed ovals, you get straight cut and scalloped, I used my VIP voucher from Create and Craft to get £10 off, another bargain. Stickles have been used in the corners and a sentiment by Vladimir Nabokov, finished off my project. I've used something very new, the washi tape and something very old, stickles on this project and I'm really please with how it's turned out. Just have to wait until the stickles have dried before putting away, I'm so impatient, my fingers are covered in glitter because I keep catching them.

Now hop over to CWWCC and show us how you use washi tape, a couple of our DT have made flowers for their projects.

I completely forgot the challenges that inspired me.

Crafting When We Can Challenges #113 - Use a digital stamp

Over at Crafting When We Can Challenges we have a new sponsor in Nikki from
Melonheadz Illustrating
Button

The prize is 1 Bundle from the store

Theme is Use a digital stamp

The DT were given a choice of a bundle of images from the store.  I chose Bugs.  I thought this could be used for many different projects.  I chose to make a banner by using all 14 images, boy is it long.  I can't find a place big enough in the house to hang it up.  I will make it into 2 banners and take another photo when the light gets better or it stops raining and I can hang it on the washing line.  I used a watercolour back ground from CraftArtist and then I had to 'paint' the inside of the images white as they were line drawings you could see the background through the images.  Once I did this I printed them out onto card and cut a V shape into the bottom to add a bit of interest.  I really enjoyed making this and the images were so easy to colour.  The other project I was thinking of was upcycling a baby cardboard book and sticking the images on to the pages.  Or printing the images onto printable cotton and making a baby quilt from them.  The ideas just keep coming from these images.  Anyhoo here is the really bad pictures of the project.  Will update as soon as I can.

This is a montage of the images I used on the banner.

Hop over to CWWCC and leave us your "digital stamp" projects.  As you can see it doesn't have to be a card.

Crafting When We Can Challenges 112 - Add hearts - half way post

We have a new sponsor over at Crafting When We Can Challenges.  The wonderful Sami from
Sami Stamps

Theme: add hearts

I chose Little Cloud Angel and as soon as I saw her I knew what I wanted to do.  My friend Gina, who is a wonderful mixed media artist is always trying to get me to get my fingers messy.  I don't like messy fingers but on this occasion I could find no other way to make my project.

Firstly I bought a canvas and paints from Home Bargains and then proceeded to use baby wipes to make a background on the canvas (very messy fingers Gina).  I then printed the image onto A3 paper and painted it.  I'm not really good a painting so no shading but I tried to make the wings look colourful.  The image had 3 hearts dangling from it at various lengths but I cut them off and replaced them with 4 pegged, padded hearts bought from the Range.  As you can see from the picture below I made this for my daughter to use to keep her gig and train tickets safe and where she can find them.

You still have until Saturday 20th to join in the challenge.  Hop over to the blog to get loads of inspiration from our wonderful DT.  CWWCC 112.
